Today we had to fight, not only against a really well organized and brave Pentyrch side, but also against atrocious weather conditions. It was cold, windy and wet; but where other teams struggle to get players, we managed to put together a side with few subs. This is the first thing it deserves mention this week and you should all be very proud of your team guys. You all showed the commitment that any coach wants to see in its players. Only for this reason you all deserve to be ‘Players of the Week’ today ! Not to forget your parents, that also defied the weather from the sideline and gave you the encouragement and support you deserved; well done to them as well. If there was a ‘Parent of the Week’ trophy, they all deserved it today (specially Spencer – Luca’s dad – who stood in the cold IN SHORTS !!! good legs, by the way).
It was a good game against a strong opposition. The pace of the game at some times was impressive with strong tags and speedy runs from both sides. Unfortunately, we seem to sometimes forget that the game goes on until the final whistle, and we switch off at times giving the opposition an advantage. Boys, you need to work on keeping concentrated on the game for as long as it goes on. Whenever we manage this, we’ll be a very difficult side to beat !!! Special mention today to Rhys, who once again showed his sportsmanship and joined Pentyrch for half time when they were one player short … and did really well tagging the opposition (us !!!!). Player of the week when to a battered Marcel, who ended the game with a bruised hand and limping… and we are not into contact yet !!!!!
Well done all of you. No game or training next week, just take a rest and get ready for the District Festival on the 12th April (details to follow).
