Match Report

What a great match to watch, perfect conditions and some great rugby by both teams played in a great spirit. People would pay good money to watch rugby of this quality ( I know I’ve paid decent money to watch a lot worse).

First things first as there was no match report last week, I didn’t want to let things pass without giving a special mention to a few boys for their efforts against Clwb on 6th November. Cassius scored his first try of the year with a brilliant sole run. Sonny also got in on the act with his first try of the season and I can’t round off last week's game with giving a special mention to Tomos who was the standout player with a superb all-round performance at fullback.

Now on to this week’s action and as already mentioned what a game it was. Llandaff falling slight short in the end against a very well organised Rhiwbina team with the final score ending 33-43. After an initial try by Macsen which was converted by Marley, Rhiwbina struck back with their own converted try. As the first half went on Llandaff began to take control making the most of their attacks with tries from Myles and a brace by Charlie that were converted by George. Very pleasing in the first half for all to see was the defensive effort made by all the team.

Both sides made several changes at half time, and it was Rhiwbina who began to take the upper hand and run in a few tries of their own. Our very own speed machine Mascen managed to cut the deficit, but it was Rhiwbina who had the last word scoring in the last move of the match. This was one of those games with fine margins that could have gone either way, but the boys should be proud of their effects.

I think everyone would agree with the coach’s choice for man of the match. Every time this boy had the ball, he made things happen. Great hands under the high ball, amazing strength and yards made with the ball in hand and to round things off some excellent tackling. Well done Harley what a performance you should be proud.

Next week Tonyrefail away in the cup and I am sure we all want to make it two wins out of two in the cup. Come on the boys, big turnout needed for training on Tuesday so the coaches can work on areas needed.
